Goals and motivation are very important to me and my husband. Throughout our marriage, we have listened to motivational speakers, followed goal-setting programs, and taken numerous goal setting challenges. Goals are so highly valued that we taught our kids to set goals at 6 and 7 years old. We are currently 1/3 of the way into our latest Goal Challenge. To help keep us accountable, we are going to post goal check-ins periodically. This is our first 100 Day Challenge Goal Check-In 33 Days Down.
So here we are at day 33 of the 100 Day Challenge. I must say just starting the challenge has made a real impact not only on my goals but my everyday life.
I set two goals. One is to lose 10 pounds. My action plans to help me attain this goal were simply get back to the gym and try to eat a little better. I targeted hitting the gym 5 days a week. This hasn’t worked perfectly as planned, but I am back to the gym. Some weeks I make it 5 days and others I have only made it 2 or 3 times. I’ve made two big changes to my diet. I have a hefty protein shake for breakfast instead of sugary cereal and I cut way back on eating chips at night. I have lost 3 pounds so far!
My second goal is to shoot par golfing. The action plans I set for this goal are to take lessons and to hit 200 balls a day. I also set a weekly schedule of practice and play times. I quickly realized that my body could not keep up with my mind. I thought I would be shooting an 80 by now. That hasn’t happened but I did shoot an 83 (my best score ever)!
When I started this challenge my main focus was on golf and although I haven’t reached my short-term goal, I have taken golf lessons a few days a week and I did manage to hit a little over 200 balls. I have learned new shots, improved my putting greatly, and I’m much more consistent with the driver. I am consistently shooting in the 80’s now instead of high 90’s and low 100’s. I am aiming for that goal to shoot par by the end of the 100 day challenge.
I set 2 goals for myself this challenge and we set one “couples” goal to achieve together. Our couples goal is of financial nature. We will keep that private, but we are somewhat on track to reach this goal. Not completely on pace, but hoping to reach our goal by 100 days.
My first personal goal is to write 2 blog posts per week. The action plans I set for this goal were to plan my posts for the next 100 days and to create my resource page. I am happy to say that at this point in time I have completed both of these tasks. I feel organized and on track knowing what I will be writing about and on what date. List writing makes me thrive, Lol!
Contrarily though, I have not been successful at publishing 2 posts every week. Some weeks I have had to play catchup for the previous week and write more than 2 posts or sometimes cram everything into 1 day. The positive though is that I am not behind. I have still achieved the number of posts I should have by now. Without having a goal written down where I look at it every day it would be so easy to just float along posting whenever I feel like it. Participating in this challenge keeps me on my toes and the excuses at bay. By the end of this challenge, I will have 28 new posts.
My second personal goal is to lose 2″ around my belly. The action plan I set to achieve this goal is to continue Trainer Lindsey’s 6 Week Fit Body Challenge, create an ab supplement to this workout, avoid unhealthy snacking, consume alcohol on weekends only, and to drink 120 ounces of water daily.
So far I am mediocre with this plan. I am doing Trainer Lindsey’s workout and most of her meal plan. I did create a supplemental abdominal workout and do this after Lindsey’s workout 3 days a week. Sadly, I have eaten unhealthy snacks and had some alcohol during the week a few times. Also struggling to reach 120 ounces of water per day. It’s much easier when it is hot outside. At this point, I have lost a little over 1/2″ on my belly. To be on track I should be down about an inch. I need to try harder and exercise more willpower to achieve this goal. This will be especially rough with the holidays. Maybe I should have set a non-fitness goal, haha, but seriously, I can DO this!
We will be checking in again around the 66th day. If you are goal driven we’d love to have you join us. Share your progress in the comment section below. If goals are something you struggle with give Michael’s post a read- How To Stay Motivated Long Enough To Reach Your Goal
